The Mass Communication Department of the University of Makeni conducted a visit to the Central University in Mile 91

On February 25, 2025, a team from the Mass Communication Department of UNIMAK (University of Makeni) conducted a visit to the Central University in Mile 91. The purpose of the visit was to perform a feasibility study concerning the university’s TV and radio stations.

The visiting team was led by the Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication and Computer Science, Leonard Kamara, and included key members such as Technician Andrew Kamara and the Head of Development, Emile Jengo. Additionally, lecturers Matthew Kanu and Joseph Ezekiel Thulla were part of the delegation.

During the visit, the team had the opportunity to engage with the Vice Chancellor of Central University, Professor Bob Conteh, who provided insights into the university’s vision and goals for its media initiatives. They also met with Handel Mac Williams, the Director of Academic Affairs, who discussed the academic integration of media studies within the university.

This feasibility study aims to evaluate the potential for enhancing the existing infrastructure and programming of the TV and radio stations at Central University, ensuring they serve both educational and community needs effectively. The collaboration between UNIMAK and Central University is expected to foster growth in media education and improve broadcasting facilities, benefiting students and the wider community alike.
