UNIMAK Launches Inaugural Trade Fair: “Promoting Entrepreneurship for Economic Growth and Development”

The University of Makeni (UNIMAK) proudly announces the grand opening of its first-ever Trade Fair, themed “Promoting Entrepreneurship for Economic Growth and Development,” held today, February 13, 2025. This landmark event aims to showcase a diverse range of innovators, business owners, banking services, artisans, food vendors, and more, while also delivering top-notch entertainment for attendees.

The opening ceremony was officiated by distinguished guests, including the Director of Finance and Administration, Fr. Benjamin H. Sesay; UNIMAK Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Turay; and the official representative from the Sierra Leone Government Minister of Trade Ibrahim Alpha Sesay. The presence of these key figures underscores the importance of entrepreneurship in driving economic growth and development in the country.

This trade fair marks a significant milestone for UNIMAK, being the first of its kind organized by the university. The Fair is set to run from February 13 to February 15, 2025, at the UNIMAK Fatima campus, offering a vibrant marketplace for local businesses and innovators to display their products and services. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with various exhibitors, attend and enjoy entertainment ranging from live performances to cultural exhibits.

“The Trade Fair is not just an event; it’s a celebration of creativity, innovation, and the entrepreneurial spirit that drives our economy,” said Professor Turay. “We are excited to provide a platform for business owners and artisans to connect, collaborate, and grow their ventures while stimulating local market engagement.”
