In a significant step toward strengthening international academic collaboration, the University of Makeni (UniMak) recently welcomed a distinguished two-member delegation from the prestigious University of Notre Dame, USA.
The visit, which took place on Monday, July 28, 2025, brought to UniMak Professor Michael Pippenger and Dr. Jackline Oluoch-Aridi. The Notre Dame representatives engaged in productive discussions with UniMak’s senior administrative leadership, including a key meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Turay, and the Chancellor, His Excellency Bishop Bob John H. Koroma.
This high-level engagement underscored the deepening partnership between the two Catholic institutions. The presence of UniMak’s top leadership reflected the strategic importance of the collaboration, which is expected to pave the way for enhanced academic cooperation, student and faculty exchange programs, mental health initiatives, joint research projects, and capacity-building opportunities.
Such initiatives promise to benefit both universities and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of higher education in Sierra Leone.
