UNIMAK Secures Scholarship Opportunity with Former Liberian Vice President

The University of Makeni (UNIMAK) is proud to announce that it has secured a scholarship opportunity for its female students through a successful meeting with Her Excellency Dr. Jewel Howard Taylor, former Vice President of Liberia. A delegation of UNIMAK staff and students, led by Mr. Shebora Samba Kamara, met with Dr. Taylor to lobby for the inclusion of UNIMAK in her Africa-wide scholarship scheme for female students.

The meeting, facilitated by Mr. Edmond Alim B. Fornah, Executive Director of KAN and a UNIMAK graduate, was a precursor to the National Girls Empowerment Summit, where Dr. Taylor is the distinguished guest speaker. During the meeting, Dr. Taylor expressed her willingness to partner with UNIMAK, noting that the university was not initially part of the plan but would be included in the scholarship scheme.

“We are thrilled to announce that UNIMAK will be part of the scholarship scheme, starting with few students,” said Dr. Taylor. “We will engage with the university administration and the Student Representative Council to discuss the selection process and monitoring of beneficiaries.”

The scholarship coordinator will be in touch with UNIMAK’s administration to finalize the details. Dr. Taylor also expressed her desire to visit UNIMAK in January, further solidifying the partnership and probably giving a Public lecture.

UNIMAK commends the efforts of Mr. Shebora Samba Kamara and the students who represented the university, as well as Mr. Edmond Alim B. Fornah for facilitating the meeting. Special thanks to the Director, Rev. Fr. Benjamin, for his support and facilitation.

This development marks a significant milestone in UNIMAK’s commitment to promoting female education and empowerment. The university looks forward to working with Dr. Taylor and her team to ensure the success of the scholarship program.
