Purpose
The Quarterly Research and Pedagogy Training aimed to enhance skills and new knowledge of the Academic Staff comprehension and applications of research practices and pedagogic measures in critical areas including student admissions, departmental curriculum, assessment and examinations, and community engagement.

- Welcome and introduction by Fr. George Gbamanja, Director of Academic Affairs.
- Presentations:
- Building Synergies for Research Centers Presented by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Turay
- Focused on strengthening the need for collaboration among research centers within the university.
- Discussed strategic initiatives to enhance research output and interdepartmental partnerships
Safeguarding Policy in the Diocese of Makeni
Presented by: Dr. Rebecca Esliker
– Provided an overview of the safeguarding measures and policies in place within the UNIMAK and the Diocese of Makeni.
– Emphasized the importance of creating a safe and caring environment for all students and staff.
- Group Discussions were led by Fr. George Gbamanja, faculty members engaged in active discussions about:
- Strategies for improving student admissions processes.
- Development and revision of departmental curricula in line with academic standards and community needs.
- Best practices for assessments and examinations to ensure fairness and effectiveness.
- Enhancing community engagement initiatives to strengthen the university’s role and impact in the region.
- Facilitated sessions by the UNIMAK Good Governance expert Dr. Masara facilitated the discussions, providing insights into governance issues and their impact on academic integrity and community involvement.
