Makeni, Sierra Leone – 15/02/2025 – The University of Makeni (UniMak) is proud to announce its participation in the Sierra Leone Education in Entrepreneurial Pedagogy & Skills (SLEEK) Project a groundbreaking initiative aimed at transforming entrepreneurial education in higher education institutions (HEIs) across the country.
Coordinated by the University of Alicante, the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE)-funded SLEEK Project aligns with Sierra Leone’s vision for sustainable growth and job creation. The project will run from January 15, 2025, to January 14, 2028, bringing together a strong consortium of local and international partners, including:

A Vision for Entrepreneurial Education
The SLEEK Project is designed to build a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in Sierra Leone by enhancing entrepreneurial teaching and learning in higher education institutions. With a special focus on upskilling educators, empowering youth and women entrepreneurs, and strengthening universitybusiness linkages, the project aims to create tangible opportunities for economic growth.
Through SLEEK, the University of Makeni will play a pivotal role in:
- Developing a Comprehensive Entrepreneurship Pedagogy Curriculum
Designing an Entrepreneurship Toolkit for educators. Creating specialized training programs for university lecturers, business support service providers, and incubator mentors. - Expanding HEIs’ Business Services to Support Entrepreneurship Educators
Establishing an Entrepreneurship Academy at UniMak to train educators, support skills development, and promote entrepreneurial education. Implementing pilot training programs aimed at market women and young girls to enhance their business skills and financial literacy.
